Sprecklesville was named after Claus Spreckels a California sugar refiner who once owned 41,000 acres of Maui land and built a 4 million dollar sugar mill in Spreckelsville creating the worlds most modern and biggest sugar factory. The newspapers in Hawaii refered to Claus as "His Majesty Spreckels".
